Being Energy Efficient Can Help You Save on Taxes in 2010

When you sit down with your accountant or tax expert and plan your tax strategy for 2010, one of the ways to get tax credits is to be energy efficient.  Being Green is in 2010!  You can claim up to 30% of the first $5,000 on the money you spend doing upgrades to your home that save energy.  For those of you who decide to install a solar home heating system or some major energy efficient improvement there are even larger tax credits.   Make sure you check with your tax preparer for any state or local tax credits along similar veins to maximize all credits you can get by being Green.
